Therapeutic Songwriting Programme

We are excited to be delivering a series of therapeutic songwriting programmes on behalf of The Songwriting Organisation UK. Working with the Living Well (NHS) team for Chippenham, Corsham and Box we are establishing a referral route through social prescription to enable individuals to write and record an original song with a qualified music therapist.

Songwriting has always been a natural way for people to  identify and talk about the challenges they are facing. Whether we are looking at the past or examining our current lives, songwriting can help ground us and find the words we need to express our feelings.

This pilot programme will offer individuals six hours of face to face time, working with a fully qualified music therapist to write and record their own original song. Clients will not need any previous experience or ‘musical abilities’ and will be supported throughout the process by therapists who are highly skilled in working in person-centred and creative ways. Sessions will take place at our designated therapy studios based at The Pound Arts Centre in Corsham, Wiltshire.

The Songwriting Organisation welcomes referrals from anyone experiencing challenges to their mental health and well-being regardless of their age or diagnosis. These may include: Anxiety and Depression; Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Panic Disorder, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder and Phobias. However, they will also consider referrals from people who have been diagnosed with ADHD or Autism and those who are experiencing difficulties with grief or social isolation.
