What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is a form of talking therapy that provides a safe and confidential space to explore thoughts, emotions and life experiences. Working with a trained therapist, individuals are supported to reflect on patterns, relationships and challenges that may be affecting their wellbeing.

Through regular conversation and reflection, psychotherapy can help people gain greater understanding of themselves and their experiences. This process can support emotional healing, strengthen coping strategies and encourage meaningful change in how difficulties are understood and managed.

Psychotherapy may focus on present concerns, past experiences, or the relationship between the two. The therapist works collaboratively with the client, offering a supportive and non-judgemental environment where difficult thoughts and feelings can be explored at a pace that feels manageable.

Within The Rhythm Practice, psychotherapy may sometimes be combined with creative approaches such as music, writing or visual expression, offering different ways for thoughts and feelings to be explored when words alone may not feel sufficient.
